USM Art and Designs Virtual Annual Juried Student Show Underway

The gallery Artworks by college students in the Art and Design system, housed in the School of Performing
and Visual Arts at The University of Southern Mississippi (USM), are on show in
its virtual 2021 Annual Juried Pupil Exhibit, from March 23 by way of April 4. An awards
ceremony will be held March 25 at 6 p.m.

The Exhibition was juried by Tommie Rodgers, registrar for the Lauren Rogers Museum
of Art in Laurel, Pass up. Devin Bonner, graphic designer for EW Bullock Associates
in Pensacola, Fla. and James Davis, sculptor and studio technician at the University
of West Georgia in Carrollton, Ga., who chosen the top works of art getting regarded
on March 25 at the awards ceremony.

Rodgers, USM alumna and juror, BFA 90, counseled learners for the unbelievable do the job
developed and described the submissions as remaining total of life and strength, as envisioned
from a seasoned method.

Ive juried numerous exhibitions and Im always pleased to see the work produced by
USMs greatest younger artists, explained Rodgers. The show this year could look and truly feel
a tiny unique, but Im happy to see pupils offering their best endeavours.

Rodgers mentioned that she was intrigued to see how learners in the visual arts would
alter to unprecedented times.

It was apparent that learners stayed the class, as they embraced new and innovative
methods to hone their craft, stated Rodgers.

The exhibit options more than 250 performs of art that ended up chosen from the entries from
studio programs in artwork foundations, drawing, painting, printmaking, digital photography,
ceramics, sculpture, and many categories in graphic style and design.

This enormously anticipated yearly event is offered each spring and gives artwork college students
the prospect to show their creative achievements in visible arts made about
the earlier 12 months and compete for awards in different groups, explained Mark Rigsby, associate
professor and director of the Gallery of Art and Layout.
