BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh University is celebrating 50 several years of female undergraduates with a pretty particular images show.
“Listen to me Roar” focuses on the pictures function of 10 artists.
Above the shoulders of Lehigh College students is a collective refrain of woman empowerment.
The photos are a blend of experimental approaches, historic documentation, and assumed provoking portraiture, amplifying the voices of 10 very well-recognized artists. Just one of people artists is Lydia Panas.
“I love the notion of gals talking for the reason that that’s so a great deal about what my function is about, it really is so considerably about silence I felt as a child and turning into an artist was my way of talking,” Panas mentioned.
Her get the job done has been featured in The New York Periods. She’s exhibited all-around the environment and has taught at the Museum of Fashionable Art.
Pictures from her 3rd book, “Sleeping Beauty,” are highlighted in the exhibit.

“I’m interested in the viewer’s understanding what it feels like to be looked back at and glance inside of. To sort of think about on their own,” Panas explained.
Panas has now started out a new series, motivated by the character outside her Kutztown studio.
She suggests she’s happy to be bundled amongst the talented women featured in Listen to Me Roar, and hopes it conjures up other people.
The free show is on display at gallery areas throughout Lehigh University by way of May possibly 27.
